I find myself searching
for your phone number
or searching for your photos
stored
in my phone, hoping to find
something to stop my longing
for you
but being away from me
and my frequent absence
is the reason for my longing
that doesn't want to stop
so I shout and curse
every reason that led to this
I curse every hand that separated us
I curse every hand that contributed
to the destruction of our homeland
until we became displaced
in the diaspora
until we became distant from each other
and I say, O Lord
how long will we continue like this
O Lord, I hope in you
and no one else
that you will fix the condition of our homeland
and that we will return to it
to meet my beloved
whom we have been separated from

the fires of strife ignited in my homeland
